Since the Conservancy's inception in 2006, it has helped raise money to provide various amenities, run events and fundraisers, and raises the awareness of the Historical and Cultural Community work with the other
Not-For-Profits to help raise their impact in our community.
We foster a warm and engaging community atmosphere in Port Jefferson by embracing
our rich, maritime history, nurturing the arts with a special note to music, celebrating
maritime life, and offering diverse recreational activities for all families. We strive to enhance the human connection at the heart of our activities, especially around Jeanne Garant Harbor Front Park and the
Port Jefferson Village Center.
The Conservancy, Port Jefferson Goals:
1. Vibrant Village Center:
Cultivate a sense of community and humanity at the Port Jefferson Village Center, making it a hub of culture, creativity, and warm interactions through diverse activities, including music and events.
2. Historical Preservation:
Protect and accentuate Port Jefferson's historical importance, with the Village Center serving as an anchor for historical showcases and educational endeavors. Support and harvest our history by growing and maintaining the Archive to engage and educate all about Port Jefferson's maritime and ancestral history.
3. Arts & Music Promotion:
Celebrate and propagate various art forms, with a special emphasis on music, by facilitating exhibitions, performances,
and arts-based events that resonate with
the community.
4. Maritime Life Advocacy:
Engage the community in maritime life education and conservation, partnering with other not-for-profits utilizing the Village Center for maritime-themed functions and informative workshops.
5. Recreational Diversity:
Enrich recreational offerings for families and individuals of all ages, establishing the Village Center and Harbor Front Park as key locales for communal activities and events.
6. Fundraising & Village Center Utilization:
Ensure a sustainable future for the Port Jefferson Harbor Education & Arts Conservancy through targeted fundraising, with a focus on maximizing the use of the Village Center and Jeanne Garant Harbor Front Park.
